TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – PT Jakarta Propertindo (Jakpro) mentioned the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) renovation project races to be finalized after confirmation to host U-17 World Cup 2023. “(The renovation) is still proceeding,” said the Director of Jakpro Iwan Takwin on Monday, August 7, 2023, as quoted fromĀ Antara.
The renovation included several JIS facilities, namely access to the area, access for the players, and other facilities. “We target the renovation to be done by October,” said Iwan.
Concerning the field grass previously noted by FIFA, the football association plans to send its Australian and European teams to go back to Indonesia on August 26, 2023. The visit will make sure Indonesia has finalized all agreements, from stadium preparation to administrative processes.
“We have communicated (about the grass). FIFA will come again to see our grass development and maintenance,” he said.
The President of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Erick Thohir said that FIFA has agreed to let four stadiums in Indonesia host the U-17 World Cup 2023. The four venues are JIS, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, Manahan Stadium in Solo, and Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya.
Erick said he will meet with Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo, Minister of Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono, and Acting Governor Heru Budi Hartono on Wednesday, August 9, 2023. The meeting will discuss the revamp preparation of JIS as one of the arenas to host the world cup. “Minister Basuki invited me, the Sports Minister, and the Governor of Jakarta to prepare for FIFA’s visit on August 26,” said Erick when met at Indonesia Arena GBK, Senayan, on Monday, August 7, 2023.
“Mr. Basuki said that Jakpro will renovate the inside of JIS since this is Jakarta’s asset even if the central government helped fund the development. The central government will help renovate the surrounding area of JIS,” said Erick.
The U-17 World Cup 2023 is planned to commence from November 10 to December 2, 2023.
